SWITCHABLE PRIVACY GLASS
Switchable Glass for Privacy is a smart glass solution that changes from transparent to frosted when switched off, providing instant privacy without the need for blinds or curtains. When powered on, the glass becomes clear again, allowing open visibility and natural light to flow through the space.
Manufactured as a finished glass product, Switchable Glass is ideal for new glazing projects, partitions, meeting rooms, healthcare environments, residential interiors, hospitality spaces and high-end commercial installations.

Our entry level Switchable Glass solution is manufactured by coating the liquid crystal directly onto glass with protection from a hard coated PET plastic layer. Switchable Glass is available in a range of glass specifications including toughened, acoustic and fire rated options with custom sizes and thicknesses available on request. Acrylic / Plexiglas options are also available.

Switchable Laminate Glass
Using our own patented process Switchable Laminate Glass is manufactured by laminating our liquid crystal interlayer in between two panels of toughened glass. The result is a robust product ideal for high traffic areas or environments where the glass will be exposed to moisture.

Switchable Double Glazed Unit
Smart Glass DGUs are manufactured with the liquid crystal interlayer coated inside the cavity and is primarily used for external glazing offering superior insulation properties to our other Smart Glass products. Smart Glass DGUs are manufactured using toughened glass, Swiss warm-edge spacer bars and argon gas to provide optimum insulation properties.

SWITCHABLE PROJECTION SCREENS
Smart Glass is an incredibly versatile technology integrated in a wide range of environments for privacy including homes, offices, hotels, hospitals and yachts while our Smart Glass projection screens are often integrated for theatre, museums, live events, retail stores and car showrooms to name a few.
Switchable Glass, also known as smart glass and electric privacy glass, is an optical glass technology that can adjust light transmission through the use of an AC power source. When no power is applied switchable glass appears opaque and cannot be seen through, when a current is applied the glass becomes clear allowing light to pass through freely.
Smart Glass is manufactured with an active component that allows the glass to change states through the application of electricity, PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal). In its natural ‘off’ state, these liquid crystals are arranged to refract light waves away from the surface appearing opaque. When an electrical current is applied, the crystals polarize, rearranging to allow more light to pass through causing the glass to appear clear.
Toughened and Laminated Switchable Glass can be manufactured with a maximum panel size of 4000mm and maximum width of 1800mm. For larger switchable solutions, our Switchable Film is available in widths of up to 1800mm and can be cut to any size, with multiple pieces able to be joined together with minimal join lines to create larger switchable glazed panels or partitions.
Smart Glass is a great choice for healthcare applications with previous uses including hospitals, treatment rooms, surgeries and research labs. Not only is our Switchable Laminate glass recommended for its robustness in high traffic areas, but it can also be easily cleaned and maintained when compared to alternative privacy solutions like curtains and window coverings that have to be regularly replaced.
Yes switchable glass can be used for projection! If you’re looking to use a projector with our switchable glass we recommend using Toughened Switchable Glass or our Switchable Film for the best results. Our switchable technology has been featured in many high profile projects including product launches for Rolls Royce and Jaguar, as well as in the HQ for Cirque Du Soleil.
Switchable projection screens are also a popular choice for listed buildings and churches, offering a discreet projection system that ‘disappears’ when switched to clear maintaining the visibility of the architecture of the venue.
